Parker Filter Validation process
Validating a Parker filter typically involves ensuring that the filter meets specific performance criteria and quality standards for its intended application. This process can be broken into several key steps, often aligning with industry and Parker Hannifin's internal quality assurance processes.
Filter Validation process :
- Define Performance Requirements :
Understand Application Needs and document the operating environment, fluid type, flow rate,
pressure, temperature range, and contamination level. Identify Standards with reference relevant
standards like ISO 16889 (for hydraulic filters) or other industry-specific regulations.
- Filter Design Validation :
Material Testing ensure that filter materials (e.g., housing, media, seals) are compatible with the
operating environment. Dimensional Analysis confirm that the filter dimensions align with the specified
tolerances.
- Laboratory Testing :
- Efficiency Testing conduct multi-pass tests (e.g., per ISO 16889) to determine Beta Ratio (filtration efficiency) at specific micron ratings.
- Pressure Drop Testing measure the initial and operational pressure drop under various
flow rates.
- Dirt Holding Capacity test how much contaminant the filter can hold before reaching a defined pressure differential.
- Bypass Valve Testing validate the cracking pressure and functionality of the bypass valve.
- Burst Pressure Testing confirm the filter can withstand pressure surges without failure.
- Environmental Testing :
- Thermal Cycling test the filter's performance across the specified temperature range.
- Corrosion Resistance evaluate resistance to environmental conditions, such as humidity and
salt spray.
- Vibration Testing simulate conditions in dynamic environments to ensure structural integrity.
- Field Testing :
Install the filter in its actual working environment. Monitor performance metrics like filtration
efficiency, service life, and pressure drops over time.
- Compliance and Certification :
Document Results create detailed validation reports. Third-party Certification, If required, work with I
certifying agencies to ensure compliance with standards.
- Continuous Improvement :
Monitor Customer Feedback and address any operational issues post-validation. Update Standards
adjust validation processes based on industry advancements or new requirements.
